‍ ‍Modern Psychology has not yet produced any standard Map of Emotions for use by the schools, hospitals, health clinics or the general public. Mental Health practitioners must choose among competing models of emotion which are generally pretty simplistic. Apart from the classic 5 primary emotions (Happy/Sad, Angry, Scared, Disgusted) the lists of secondary and tertiaryfeelings can easily range from twenty, thirty, or forty emotions. (for fun do some Google, internet, Ai searches with the prompt “standard list of emotions” used by different entities and and institutions).

Not an ideal situation for anyone trying to understand the landscape and dynamics of emotional energy.

Fortunately, to address this shortcoming, a most excellent Map for understanding and navigating emotional energy is gaining momentum worldwide. It is David Hawkins MD PhD’s Map of Consciousness ( or MOC for short ).‍ My hope is that this website will be interesting enough, clear enough, and useful enough to glimpse the essentials of the MOC. Learning the MOC is like having an everyday multitool… for understanding one’s own and others’ feelings.
